The process of hemostasis in an organ or tissue is called hemostasis.

In healthy people who do not have a disorder of hemostasis mechanisms, bleeding usually stops spontaneously without any intervention. In addition to conventional methods, some adjuvants are currently being used to stop bleeding.

At the top of this group are agents containing cellulose or collagen, synthetic adhesives, or substances containing fibrin. Relatively newer agents are chitosan in agents such as Ankaferd or zeolite. Local hemostatic agents significantly increase the success of the physician, especially depending on the size of the surgical site, the systemic condition of the patient, bleeding diathesis, medications taken by the patient, or complications during surgery. In this review, we examined the clinical status of local hemostatic agents and the clinical conditions associated with their use; at the same time, we evaluated the characteristics, indications, and limitations associated with their rational use.
